The old ways carried you here.

Now you’re ready to live with more ease.

healing doesn’t have to feel heavy

I’m Janie Williams (she/her), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Charlottesville, VA.

A smiling woman in a floral dress standing in a field of wildflowers, captured in black and white.

I work with adults navigating transitions, identity shifts, and the aftershocks of trauma—especially when old strategies no longer serve and new ways of being haven’t yet fully formed.

If you’re like many of the people who find me, you are not new to therapy.

You’ve held it together and worked to understand patterns. You’ve reflected deeply and analyzed. You’re thoughtful, capable, self-aware.

Yet something feels sticky. Unfinished. Like you’ve been inside the cocoon for a long time—aware that something is changing but not quite sure how to inhabit what’s next.

I specialize in supporting that in-between space, so you can emerge freer and more fully yourself.

Our work together is trauma-informed, relational, and gently paced.

Grounded in Internal Family Systems, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and EMDR, we listen closely to the parts of you that have worked so hard to protect, to the signals of your body, and to what is ready (and not yet ready) to unfold.

I’m reverent about the messy change process and irreverent about the scripts that say healing must be grim or joyless.

Deep work can hold lightness.

Transformation can include laughter and play.

Together, we help you move through life with more ease, more freedom, and a steadier sense of trust in yourself.
